The Future of Bitcoin and Poker

Bitcoin is changing our world in so many ways. It is already possible to buy practically anything with Bitcoin because the currency is so powerful and so simple at the same time. Sure, there is plenty of technical stuff in the background for certain people, but Bitcoin can be amazingly easy to use as well. All one really has to do to reap the benefits of cryptocurrency is open up a wallet and send funds as desired. This can even be done entirely online, making it almost as easy as Facebook.

These benefits apply to Bitcoin poker as well. At …

Bitcoin History and Why Use Them to Play Poker

Bitcoin Poker is becoming more and more popular these days. This kind of Poker game makes use of Bitcoins, also known as BTC. This coin is a decentralized digital currency which can now be used to make payments online to anywhere all over the world. But unlike other currencies, the Bitcoins are not regulated by the government or by the Central Bank. Instead, this currency is regulated by a peer-to-peer network which verifies and records all the transactions involved with the use of Bitcoins.

They also oversee the use of Bitcoins in the Bitcoin Poker game. If you are new …

#1 SealsWithClubs.eu Review

Seals With Clubs is by far the most popular Bitcoin-based poker site, and for good reason. It has been around for over two years and has consistently worked to be the best poker site available for Bitcoin users. With both a client that can be downloaded (in both a .zip for a portable version and a .exe for installation) and a browser-based client, getting started with Seals With Clubs could not be easier. It only takes a minute to get going on the site, and you can jump straight into the action. For some of the important aspects that make this site one of my favorites. If you want to check outreviews about non poker sites, check out Bitcoin Gambling Sites’ Reviews for the latest reviews of Bitcoin’s top gambling sites.

Personal Experience

Getting up and running with Seals With Clubs was a great experience. As an avid poker player already, the entire system was already pretty familiar. If you need to buy some Bitcoins Check out Bitcoin Exchage Guide for Resources. Rather than using the browser-based client, I opted for the standalone (non-installed) version. It was as simple as downloading, unzipping it and running the client and within seconds I was at the lobby! From here, I surfed around a little, looking at where the bulk of the site’s activity was holed up at. It should come as no surprise that freerolls were by far the most popular, often getting as many as 300 players in at once. Past this, when it came to the money games the most people were in Texas Hold’em, followed by Omaha (although at a much lower rate).

Watching the games was very pleasurable, especially seeing that players are on low stakes (0.5 chip big blinds) and medium stakes (the 10 chip blinds are pretty popular). While none of these are considered as major stakes, that will likely end up changing as the site continues to grow and Bitcoin becomes more popular. As it is in its current state, the site is an awesome experience for both watching and taking part in the poker games, and getting involves is easy enough that making a deposit (or joining one of the hourly freerolls) is painless!

Seals With Clubs has an average of around 400 concurrent users on at any given time, although it does dip to around 200 from time to time. This leads to a great number of players to go against at any given time on both cash tables and tournaments.
Cash Games, Sit & Go’s and Tournaments are all available for the popular game types of Texas Hold’em, Omaha and Omaha Hi-Lo. No matter what your favorite game type is, you can find others interested in playing it as well (although Texas Hold’em is by far the most popular choice among Seals With Clubs players).
Deposits to the site are handled very fast, in that they require only a single confirmation before being credited. This is stated to usually take between 5 and 30 minutes, depending on how long it takes for the transaction to make it into the blockchain. Withdrawals take a bit longer, taking up to 12 hours (but usually being significantly faster than this). While this is a bit of time, it is nothing compared to the weeks or months some sites require!
Chip Values and Rake

A single chip on Seals With Clubs is worth 1 mBTC (or a thousandth of a Bitcoin). This value does not fluctuate, regardless of Bitcoin’s current value.

Rake is charged depending on the game type and blinds, as follows:

No Limit/Pot Limit – 2.5% of the pot with a 10 chip maximum

Limit (Big Blind < 100 Chips) – 2.5% rake with a 2 Big Blind cap

Limit (Big Blind > 100 Chips) – 1% rake with a 7 chip maximum

Promotions. There are a few different promotions here that are well worth checking out:

Every Sunday there is a 40 Bitcoin guaranteed tournament called the “BIG BTC.”

There is a “Table Starter” bonus that offers 50% rakeback to anyone playing on a 6-max or 9-max table with less than four players. This is automatically rewarded.

There is a bonus system set up called “Krill” that rewards you for playing. The chart of current requirements and the rewards is as follows:

Wave 1410,000,000 krill50% RakebackGrandMasterSeal
Wave 135,000,000 krill47% Rakeback

Krill is earned while taking part in both cash games and tournaments, and the freerolls are tiered (such that at 2500 Krill you have access to all three freerolls).

Our Rating

My rating for Seals With Clubs is a 10/10. The only potential problem is the withdrawal time, but even compared to the industry average it is much shorter than the standard. With all of the promotions that go on and the ability for everyone to get rakeback from their play, Seals With Clubs offers a great experience for new and experienced poker players alike.

#2 BTCOnTilt.com Review

BTCOnTilt is a Bitcoin-based poker room that offers a very sleek website. On top of this, they are soon to release a live 24/7 support area (right now support is handled via email) and forums. BTC On Tilt is a site dedicated to promoting a clean poker room with superior player support. We are unique in that we only allow players to play with a virtual currency called bitcoins. Even without these in place, they are still well worth checking out!

Our Review

The average number of concurrent users on the site is currently around 20-30. At the time of this writing, the majority of these players are focused around the freeroll tables (although from time to time there is a little table action as well).
Cash Games, Sit & Go’s and Tournaments are all available for the popular game types of Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo. As the population picks up, this will grant even more choices for game types so you can pick what you love best.
Deposits to the site are quick and painless (requiring only a single confirmation), and withdrawals are pretty fast as well. Withdrawals are handled every 2 hours, but it has been stated that they are looking in to the possibility of doing smaller withdrawals instant

A single chip on BTCOnTilt is worth 1 mBTC (or a thousandth of a Bitcoin). This value does not fluctuate, regardless of Bitcoin’s current value.

Rake is charged at a rate of 2% of the total pot size.

BTCOnTilt offers up tournaments like a 2BTC guaranteed, as well as freerolls. On top of this, there is also a leveling up system, based on Tilt Points (earned at a rate of 1 Tilt Point per chip collected in rake). The rewards for different tiers, and their requirements are as follows:

Tilt Points

2.5% Rakeback and Deposit Bonus

10% Rakeback

15% Rakeback

25% Rakeback

On top of the leveling system itself, there is also another bonus: accumulated Tilt Points can be converted in to prizes, including direct conversion to chips (on a 1:1 ratio)!

BTCOnTilt has its own “Bad Beat Jackpot,” it to anyone who loses with aces full of kings or better. The player that won the hand also receives a part, as do the rest of the players on the table at the time.

My current rating for BTCOnTilt is a 9/10. They are fast at responding (and will get faster), they are utilizing a very professional and well-known client and their cashing out is fast. On top of this, the reward system not only rewarding players with rakeback but also the ability to earn free chips is an awesome bonus. Through all the features the site offers up, it is a way for players to maximize their earnings through play.

#3 SatoshiPoker.org

Satoshi Poker was founded in 2013 with the explosion in popularity of Bitcoin. Satoshi Poker is committed to providing features above and beyond the current standard in the online poker industry, including legal protection, as bitcoin is not money, as recently confirmed by the European Central Bank. This allows us to have a truly revolutionary product: truly anonymous poker games, without the known hassles at withdrawals as known by the current online poker elite.
Welcome to premier Bitcoin Poker, Satoshi Poker, the future of privacy, security, and full features in the online poker space

Our Review

Personal Experience

When first entering Satoshi Poker, getting used to the conversion factor can be a little confusing. While most poker sites relate a single chip to being worth 1 mBTC, with Satoshi Poker each chip is worth half that. While this leads to being able to play on tables with lower blinds, remembering the conversion details can be a bit of a hassle.

Actually getting involved with the site is pretty fast; within a minute or so you can get a new account created and get up and running with the client. There are plenty of freerolls going on to jump in when you want and not have too long to wait before you can get in to a game. While they don’t pay much (as little as 5 Satoshi chips) they do grant a way to get rolling in tournaments and cash games without having to make any deposits first.

I really like the desktop client as opposed to the traditional mavens platform. I think its more pleasing on the eyes and offers a better overall experience playing online poker.

The big problem I had was with their support. Emailing support yielded no responses, so the only way you can get a hold of them is via a ticket system. For issues that arise that require quick response, I do not see this being nearly as efficient as it could be. It is also worth noting that their support states it can take up to 48 hours to get a response.

Client Ease of Use

Satoshi Poker utilizes the same type of client some other major poker sites use, so getting used to it is fast and easy. Getting logged in and joining games or tournaments is a matter of seconds, and navigation is fluid and seamless.

Satoshi Poker has an average concurrent population of around 35 players, mostly focused on the freerolls at the moment.

Cash Games, Sit & Go’s and Tournaments are all available for the popular game types of Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, 7-Card Stud and 7-Card Stud Hi-Lo. The freeroll tournaments are the most popular ones played, but more options available can be beneficial as the site grows in population.

Deposits and withdrawals are both stated to take less than an hour at most, classifying them as “almost instant.” This leads the site to having to fastest withdrawal time out of the big poker sites.

A Bitcoin is worth 10,000 Satoshi (chips) in Satoshi Poker. This value does not fluctuate with the price of Bitcoins.

Rake is charged at a flat 2% rate across the different games.

There are multiple different promotions that are going on, including:

  •  Freerolls every 30 minutes
  • 20% Rakeback
  • The ability to play with pros
  • A referral program
  • Leaderboards (through Grindabit)
  • A “Super Sunday Guaranteed” tournament

My rating for Satoshi Poker is 7/10. While I like their promotions and the freeroll structure, two decent issues stand out: the lack of fast support responses and the odd conversion from Bitcoins to Satoshi chips.

#4 LiveBitcoinPoker.com Review

Live Bitcoin Poker is a Bitcoin-based poker site that focuses on anonymity above all else. Signing up only requires a few pieces of information: a username, an email address and a password. Past this, nothing else is asked for, nor required in order to get playing. This has two benefits: it increases anonymity and it makes signing up that much faster! Read on for the different aspects of this poker site.

Personal Experience

Getting started with Live Bitcoin Poker was quick and easy, taking less than half a minute. All it takes is going to the website, choosing a username, password and entering an email address and the signing up process is done. From here, an email is given to verify the account and it is time to jump in to the game. I had some difficulty find a place to buy some bitcoins with fiat money, luckily my friend linked me this article on the various types of Bitcoin Exchanges.

Entering the site’s client, there was a downfall; there is really no action except for players in the queue for the freeroll tournaments. Past this, there was no table action yet. Furthermore, an annoying thing was experienced: after a short break (around fifteen minutes), while the games and tournaments were still visible, upon clicking anything the client timed out and required logging back in again. This is annoying to be sure, and leads to less fluid movement from table to table.

This, tacked on with learning about the withdrawal process really did not bode well. After all, this is by far the most locked down withdrawal system I have seen, really limiting the players.

Client Ease of Use

Live Bitcoin Poker uses a browser-based client instead of a downloaded one. The client is easy to use and navigate, although it does have one annoying quirk: it likes to log you out after inactivity. While this usually happens during downtime, it can also happen when you are in a cash game and try to jump over to a tournament. This is an annoying and less pleasurable experience.

By Mike MacKenzie

The population with this site is pretty small right now. As it is, it is averaging less than 10 concurrent users, and all of them are always focused on the freerolls.

The game types offered are tournaments and cash games based on Limit and No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha and Omaha Hi-Lo.

Deposits to Live Bitcoin Poker are made very easily, although withdrawing is a bit of a hassle. There are a few rules in play here:

  •  You can not withdraw less than 0.5 BTC
  • There is a 2% transfer charge

You must wait at least 7 days from the last deposit or withdrawal to make a withdrawal

Chip Values and Rake

Each chip is worth one mBTC (1/1000th of a Bitcoin), regardless of the value of Bitcoins at the time.

Rake is among the highest seen, going up as high as 7.5% of the total pot size (and going as low as 2.5%).

The only promotion going on right now is the chance for 100% Rakeback. Players can sign up for a monthly drawing where one lucky person will win a boost to their account that rewards them with 100% rakeback.

Our Rating

My rating for Live Bitcoin Poker is a 2/10. The site is far from professional and contains a lot of out-of-date information (for example, it still has old promotions that ended months ago) and is hard to follow. The annoying situation with being logged out doesn’t help matters. Finding out how hard it is to withdraw funds brings about a fear of depositing (plus there are no cash games being played regardless). Overall, the site has a lot of work to do if it wants to compete with the other big players in the poker field
